About 100 cars collected by one person at the auction! │Why did you start your collection?

RM Sotheby's announced that it will exhibit a collection of about 100 gemstones owned by a single collector at an auction in Essen, Germany on March 26. The collector is Marcel Petitjan, a former racing driver. The collection ranges from the 1950s to the cars of the 1990s in a wide variety of countries.

Petitjan traveled throughout Europe in the 1960s and 1970s, participating in every race. After retiring from the race, he started a full-fledged car collection in hopes of establishing a museum someday. But that never happened, only personal collections grew.

This time around 100 collections have been unrestored and all have been in original condition, but most have not been in operation for more than 10 years. Some maintenance will be required.

As a lineup,
・ 31 Italian cars [Lamborghini Countach LP400S, Maserati Ghibli 4.7S, De Tomazo Mangsta, etc.]・ 34 British cars [Aston Martin DB6 saloon, Jaguar E-type Series 3, etc.]・ 17 German cars [Porsche 356B cabriolet, BMW 3.0CSi, etc.]・ Other about 20 [Citroen SM, Delorean DMC-12, etc.]

The Mercedes-Benz 300SL is particularly popular, with estimated bids of between 800,000 and 1.1 million euros [about 96 to 103 million yen]. The Porsche 904 was one where Petitjan was actually steering at the race of the 1960s, and has attracted attention alongside the Mercedes-Benz 300SL. The estimated successful bid is between 700,000 and 900,000 euros [about 84 to 108 million yen].

“ Putitjan had a diverse collection. From cars that attract the attention of the world to entry-level cars, it's wonderful, '' said RM Sotheby's car specialist.

With respect for this diversity, all cars in the Petit Jean Collection will be available to anyone with no reserve.
