BMW strengthens CSR activities │ Establishes "BMW volunteer club" for employees

In light of the recent situation, BMW has been taking even more measures regarding CSR [Corporate Social Responsibility] activities, which have been actively engaged in the development of environmentally friendly products and product safety. Since 2017, BMW has been holding workshops for children, "Mechanisms of self-driving cars," in collaboration with the National Museum of Emerging Science and Innovation in Japan nationwide. While autonomous vehicles are becoming a reality, the children of the next generation learned about autonomous driving technology and planned a workshop to consider the future with autonomous driving. We plan to continue working with the National Museum of Emerging Science and Innovation. Since the beginning of this year, especially after the spread of new coronavirus infectious diseases, the following activities have been carried out and will be carried out in the future.

Transports and distributes food supplies in collaboration with Second Harvest Japan [CEO: McZilton Charles], the first food bank organization. BMW provides vehicles and drivers. It has been held three times since May of this year, with 15 employees including President and CEO Widmann participating. Employees will continue to volunteer every Saturday.

In the future, we will continue to work on an online educational program for children in collaboration with the NPO After School, a non profit organization. Last month, we established the "BMW Volunteer Club" for employees to devise and implement various CSR activities centered on volunteer activities.
