Bose closes 119 stores in Japan

Audio equipment maker Bose will launch in North America, Europe, Australia and Japan on January 15, U.S. time.119 storesWill be closed in the coming months. The reason is "a significant shift to online purchases".

The first Bose store opened in the United States in 1993. Today, its products are increasingly being purchased online.

"Our retailers originally provided people with the opportunity to experience, try and consult with multi-component CD and DVD-based home entertainment systems," said Colette Burke, Vice President of Global Sales at Bose. "In those days, it was an advanced idea, but we were looking at what customers wanted and where they were. We are still doing the same."

Dismissals seem inevitable, Burke said, “this decision will affect some of our great store teams.” Such employees can receive job change assistance and benefits. The company did not disclose the number of affected employees.

130 130 stores in China, United Arab Emirates [UAE], India, Southeast Asia and Korea will continue.
