The S30 Fairlady Z has gained enormous popularity not only in Japan but also in North America by adopting a highly comfortable closed body. The body form of the long nose and short deck was passed on to the Z31 via the successor S130.
Z31 Fairlady Z appeared in September 1983. The retractable headlights, which have unique movements and are called parallel rising headlamps, are impressive. The body has 2 seaters and 2by2 that can accommodate 4 people.
The powertrain was disappointing for L-type fans, but it has been redesigned from the past models, adopting V-type 6-cylinder 2L turbo and 3L NA. Later, in February 1984, a T-bar roof was added, and in October 1985, a model equipped with an in-line 6-cylinder DOHC turbo engine RB20DET was added.
Under the front hood, a 3L turbo VG30ET engine fits. Once you step on the accelerator, you can say that the real pleasure of the Z is that you can fully experience the power of 195 ps and the big torque of 31.5 kg-m.
