Fujitsu announced on May 19 that it has decided to end sales and support for thumb shift related products.
The company has been providing thumb shift keyboards and Japanese word processors and input software products for 40 years since the Japanese word processor "OASYS 100" was announced in May 1980.
However, the JIS layout keyboard has become the de facto standard, and it was said that the situation in which the functional superiority of the thumb shift could not be fully appealed continued.
The "thumb shift keyboard" is a unique Fujitsu keyboard that was first adopted in Fujitsu's first Japanese word processor OASYS 100, which was released in 1980.
Until now, the company has continued business by taking measures such as operational efficiency improvement and product price increase, but it was unavoidable that it decided to end sales and support of thumb shift related products.
Regarding "FMV-KB232" [USB connection] with thumb shift keyboard "FMV-KB613" [PS / 2 connection], sales will end in May 2021 and support will end in June 2026.
LIFEBOOK thumb shift keyboard model "FMCKBD09H", a notebook PC custom-made option for companies, will be sold in March 2021 and support will end in April 2026.
Sales of Japanese word processing software and input software "OASYS V10.0" and "Japanist 10" ended in May 2021 [September 2020 for "OASYS V10.0" for individuals]. Support for "OASYS V10.0" was completed in May 2024 [September 2023 for individuals], and "Japanist 10" ended in June 2026 [after June 2024, case-based support, new obstacles] No investigation / correction will be provided].
