Hitomi Shintani sets half-marathon record in Japan with platform shoes

Women's long-distance Hitomi Shintani [31 = Sekisui Chemical] entered the half marathon in Houston, USA on the 19th, setting a new record in Japan of 1 hour, 6 minutes and 38 seconds. The previous record was 1 hour 7 minutes 26 seconds by Kayoko Fukushi in 2006. Wearing Nike's platform shoes, it was the first time in 14 years, a major update of 48 seconds.
