The body model of the production model is an open model that integrates a roadster of the XK150 era equivalent to the predecessor model and a drop head coupe. At present, it was considered to be a two-seat type, an open two-seater [so-called OTS] that is often described as a roadster, and a coupe with a characteristic side-opening hatch gate.
The power unit also follows the D-type flow. The great thing about the Jaguar, however, is that the XK150 series or the mass-produced engine XK-type in-line 6-cylinder DOHC unit, which was also used in the Mark 2 saloon, was powered up and mounted on the D-type. The E-type will gradually change its specifications to meet the demands of the North American market. First, in October 1964, the XK engine was expanded to 4235cc. At the same time, the 4-speed gearbox was also fully synchronized. In 1966, a 2 + 2 coupe with an additional 230mm rear wheel base and additional occasional seats was added. The headlights on the exterior have been repositioned since 1968 to meet the new security standards of the North American authorities. A transitional model with a few safety measures in the interior, also known as the "Series 1.5 new version, will be produced only for a short period of time.
