JOC canceled local visit to Beijing Winter Olympics this month

Following the spread of the pneumonia caused by the new coronavirus, the Japan Olympic Committee [JOC] announced on Tuesday that it has canceled the local preliminary survey for the 2010 Winter Olympics scheduled for late 2010 this month.

"I would like to work hard to gather information and work with the competitions to ensure the safety of players and stakeholders," said Chairman Yasuhiro Yamashita, who held a conference in Tokyo. In response to the World Health Organization [WHO] Declaration of Emergency on January 30, the JOC was considering whether to conduct an investigation. It is undecided how to deal with alternative dates in the future.
