A.L.F.A. 40/60 HP Aerodinamica by Castagna
A.L.F.A. 40/60 HP appeared in 1913, before the Alfa Romeo brand was known worldwide. Designed by Giuseppe Merosi, an Italian engineer, produced until 1922. Equipped with a 6082cc in-line 4-cylinder OHV engine, it delivers 70bhp. Top speed reached 125km / h. The race model, Corsa, showed 73bhp and a maximum speed of 137km / h, and showed success in the race.
Marco Ricotti, who belonged to Carrozzeria Castagna based on 40/60 HP in 1914, worked on a unique body of 40/60 HP Aerodynamica.
The silhouette is like a long egg with a sharp rear. As the name implies, it was designed to contribute to aerodynamics, and only one-off prototypes were made. The maximum speed reached 139km / h. A replica was made in the 1970s and can now be seen at the Alfa Romeo Museum. One of the cars you want to see at least once.
