Olympus released on July 2 the software "OM-D Webcam Beta" for PC that can use the mirrorless interchangeable-lens camera "OM-D" series as a camera for web conferences. The high-quality images that can only be obtained with a single-lens system equipped with a large image sensor can be used with web conferencing software. The supported OS is Windows 10, and the use is free. Since it is a beta version, there is no guarantee of operation or support.
It can be said to be an Olympus version of "software for using a hand-held interchangeable lens camera as a web camera of a personal computer" that camera manufacturers have announced one after another. Just install the application that can be downloaded for free on your computer and connect the camera with a USB cable. Launch the web conferencing software you want to use and select "OM-D Webcam Beta" from the setting menu to use the connected OM-D series as a web camera.
The corresponding cameras are as follows. Both require firmware to be up to date.
- OM-D E-M1X
- OM-D E-M1 Mark III
- OM-D E-M1 Mark II
- OM-D E-M1
- OM-D E-M5 Mark II
