Print a slip by holding a QR code, unmanned mailing box “ Mercallipost '' to be deployed from summer 2020-Engadget Japan version
From the summer of 2020, Mercari will start operating the Mercaripost, an unmanned mailing box that can sell sold products. By 2023, it is aiming to install at 5,000 locations nationwide, mainly at docomo shops and Merpey member stores nationwide. Collection and delivery will be handled by Yamato Transport, which has been affiliated with "Easy Mercari".
As a usage method, read the QR code created on the transaction screen of the application with "Mercalli Post". Then, the invoice will be printed, so just stick it on your luggage and post it.
The target sizes are "Takkyubin Compact" and "NekoPOS (A4 size, within 2.5cm in thickness)". By deploying the Mercari Post in various locations, the company aims to eliminate the hurdle to using Mercari, such as "I want to exhibit but the shipping location is not close."
In addition, the next generation one-stop terminal "Mercalli Post Plus" was announced. A terminal that can measure, ship, and pay for products, and is being developed in collaboration with Panasonic. Details of Mercari Post Plus will be announced in the spring of 2020.
