The McLaren 620R was announced, one that can run on public roads while having the appearance, performance, and driving feel of a racing car.
It was developed based on the Model 570S GT4, which has won the most races and podiums among the GT race cars produced by McLaren so far. The 620R also has a single-piece carbon fiber Monocell II chassis, similar to the GT4. This is what makes the vehicle stronger and lighter. The vehicle weight is 1282kg in dry weight.
The engine is also common, and all will be equipped with "M838TE" type 3.8 liter V type 8 cylinder gasoline twin turbo engine. However, the output is very different. With the 620R, where race regulation is not applied, the tuning of the engine ECU and turbocharger can be changed. As a result, the maximum output is 620ps. Generates maximum torque of 63.2kgm. It is the most powerful performance of the successive sports series models.
The transmission uses a 7-stage "SSG". 0 to 100km / h acceleration is 2.9 seconds, 0 to 200km / h acceleration is 8.1 seconds. The maximum speed reaches 322km / h. The suspension allows the driver to adjust the damping force according to the driving style and circuit characteristics. The damper is more than 6kg lighter than a normal sports series unit.
As for interior, floor carpet and glove box are not equipped. It does not have an air conditioner, “IRIS” navigation, or audio system, but it can also be installed as a free option. The "Bowers & Wilkins" audio system can also be selected as an option.
A serial number indicating that the center console is limited to 350 is attached with a plate, and various customs can be made as well as all McLaren. Of course, you can change the color of the brake calipers.
The standard three body colors are inspired by the GT4 racing car. McLaren Orange has white stripes, silica white has orange stripes, onyx black has orange stripes. Bib number decals and partner decals are available as options. Special decal painting inspired by Senna GTR can also be selected.
Limited to 350 units worldwide, the 620R will be assembled by hand from January 2020 at the McLaren Production Center in Surrey, England. The price in the home country is 250,000 pounds, and in Japan it is planned to start from about 35.7 million yen. In addition, the price of Pure McLaren Truck Day is included in the price when purchased in Europe and the United States.
