Tamron, α telephoto zoom “70-180mm F / 2.8” official announcement 150,000 yen

Tamron announces on April 14 that Sony will release the large aperture telephoto zoom lens "70-180mm F / 2.8 Di III VXD" (Model A056) for Sony's full-size E-mount on April 7, which was announced on April 7. (It may change depending on the future situation). Until now, it was scheduled to be released in the spring of 2020. The suggested retail price is 150,000 yen excluding tax.

A large-diameter zoom lens for full-size E-mount, following the existing 17-28mm F / 2.8 Di III RXD and 28-75mm F / 2.8 Di III RXD. The lens is 149mm long and weighs 810g, and is small and lightweight to fit the α series camera body. The filter diameter is 67mm, which is common to these zoom lenses. A simple drip-proof structure for taking pictures outdoors and an anti-fouling coat that is hard to get dirty and easy to maintain are also adopted.

The AF drive is equipped with the VXD (Voice-coil eXtreme-torque Drive), the first linear motor focus mechanism with a Tamron lens. In addition to supporting the fast hybrid AF and pupil AF that are installed in the Sony α series, the ability to follow sports and vehicles has been improved. The shortest shooting distance is 0.85m for the entire zoom range, and 0.27m close-up shooting is possible on the 70mm side only during manual focus.
