I feel that the "X100V" announced by Fujifilm is a personally exciting camera after a long absence. Many of the parts have been brushed up and the camera has been completed as described by the company's development staff as "the biggest model change in the series."
By the way, I have used the first generation “ X100 '' for about a year and the previous generation “ X100F '' for about half a year, but in the first generation there are places that are difficult to use like the first model, and there are some parts of the first generation that are still in the long term Did not come to love it. However, I felt that the X100V, which I picked up and tried for a short time this time, was a finish that changed my thinking about such an X100 series. There are quite a few personal reasons, but I want to mention some of them.
The viewfinder area has evolved greatly
The first one concerns the viewfinder, which is a hybrid type of OVF [optical viewfinder] and EVF [electronic viewfinder].
Basically, the finder is the same as the X-Pro3 mirrorless APS-C, the flagship of the X series, and the resolution of the EVF has been increased from 2.36 million dots to 3.69 million dots. Based on my experience with the X100 series, I'm very happy because I shoot with almost 100% EVF.
At the extreme, now that the image sensor has enough resolution, I feel that the resolution of the EVF is more important in selecting a model. Needless to say, the higher the resolution of the EVF, the easier it is to grasp the focus state, and above all, the better the appearance of the image itself. The brightness has been increased from 1,145cd to 1,500cd so that the image can be reproduced more clearly. By the way, the LCD monitor on the back has also been improved from 1.04 million dots to 1.62 million dots, and this is a spec that will also grind unintentionally.
What I felt most happy was the movement of the light blocking plate when using the EVF. When using the EVF with the conventional model, every time the eyepiece was in contact with the eyepiece, the light blocking plate in the viewfinder came in and out, so it was troublesome, and because it was a mechanical part, I felt uneasy considering the trouble. However, with the X100V, setting it to EVF fixed the light-shielding plate to the state that it always came out, and this was no longer the case. It's a small change that's not mentioned in the press release, but I personally feel it's the biggest part that motivates me to use this camera.
The place that makes you think that the optical system has been completely renewed. I don't like the crisp depictions, but I still want a bit of modern flavor, and this evolution makes me use the camera. In addition, the built-in ND filter has three to four stops, making it possible to shoot with a wider aperture. This is because in this model that uses a lens shutter, the shutter on the high-speed side cannot be released when shooting with the aperture open for mechanical reasons. With the effect of the ND filter increased by one step, it can be said that the quality of the lens, which has improved resolution even at full aperture, became easier to demonstrate.
The texture of the body has clearly increased
The edgy body shape also attracts interest. It's not bad, but it doesn't have to be more sophisticated. If you look at European and American fashion magazines, the X100 series appears as a prop with quite a certain frequency, and it sometimes decorates the magazine surface with beautiful models. Perhaps personally, I prefer simple, camera-like designs, but more and more will be used as props.
As for the body, it is the motivation to buy a dust- and drip-proof structure for the first time in the series. This is because the photographer cannot select the weather conditions at the time of shooting. Of course, if you don't attach a filter via the adapter ring, the lens will not be dust-proof and drip-proof, but I don't care at all because the lens always has a protect filter [due to poor quality].
In addition, the tilted LCD monitor feels that it is necessary for high angle and low angle shooting, and the simple back of the camera with the cross key omitted has the same operational feeling as the X-E3 etc. It is a place where it will be involuntarily.
Anyway, X100V finished to your liking. At the same time, the APS-C mirrorless "X-T4", which was announced for development, is attracting attention as a camera to use at work, and it is currently unclear which one to obtain. However, among the headaches, there is one who thinks of himself walking with the X100V lowered from his neck.

Since then, he has been active in various fields, mainly in camera magazines, general newspapers, and web media. In 2018, a photo exhibition [private exhibition] could not be held as in last year, so it was a great deal. I hope to create a foothold for a photo exhibition in 2019, at least to take photos.
